My Squash victory!

Wohoo I won today 3 games to 2! And what a game it was. Only my 3rd squash victory since I played interclub.

A guy who has a belly thrice the size of mine and is probably twice my age played was my opponent. The thing is guys like this usually are the hardest to beat at my level. They shove and move and aim to get a stroke or a let, which is exactly what he did and frustrated the hell out of me. It didn't help that his team mate was the referee and that he stopped for like 10-20 seconds between every point to catch his breath!!

But not like the previous times, this time I maintained my composure and played my game. I think for me its all about the mental edge, I think my skills are good enough (for an E1 grade , which is pretty low ahm ahm) but I just need to relax and keep my game style.

Now I just need to go to Egypt and learn squash from the masters aaahhh.

On a completely different note, how weird is it to know someone who you assume are a party animal and turn out to be a genius? I just found out this guy in my squash team has like a solid 9 GPA (out of 9), that is insane and you would never expect that meeting him. Good on him though, that is excellent.

Pimping...ohh yaa

I have just been recently adding crap to my blog to make it look slightly more cool-er. Added a flicker badge and a shout box after adding the visitor map a while ago..

It just feels much more productive than studying for the test I got or doing any of my assignments :D

Oh and it feels all those "widgets" as I found them called are like the facebook applications, you add them and remove them within days.

On relationships

A few incidents that I've experienced in the past few days made me think even more about relationships and girlfriends. I hate talking about this topic, but hey this is what a blog is for after all.

I have seen a couple I know do the walk of shame in front of me(I was talking on the phone in the hallway not like waiting or something). Then I heard that another person I know got intimate to her so-called boyfriend. And finally, while driving back from uni I saw another guy I know with his blonde girlfriend. All of them Muslims.

Why I am single hmm. I mean, I have been feeling lonely for a very long time, add this to my normal "depression" and you see what I mean. I am not trying to act like haram police, let those people do whatever they please. But all this got me thinking that I somehow envy those people. They got someone to talk to, share with, hang out with. I am not being a hypocrite by saying I wouldn't want a companion because am religious bla bla. Unfortunately, my first criteria of any potential "girls" that I think of is "is she marriage material" and 99.99% are no (after I turned off my slef-loathing and low-confidence filters).

Either way, my last (and only) relationship was ... pretty bad and I think I ended up much worse than what I am not so in the end am not missing much.

To conclude, I need to get married... :D

Ahha Chiknak Chiknak

Anyone who knows me well knows that I mostly listen to Metal/Hard rock music (Lacrimaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas). But, for the past few weeks I've been listening quite a bit of Persian and Arabic music and since I got a few gigs "ethnic" music from my, I have quite a bit to categorize. I re-discovered some very old Persian songs that my dad used to put in the car during our long drives and some other nice ones.

Anyway, I never found the Daler Mehendi song which I've been seeking for like 4-5 years ago. Even my Sikh friend couldn't get it for me because he couldn't remember the song name, this still didn't stop me from singing that stupid lyric "ahaa chikita chikita, delhe mare hamka tomaraaaa" (you know what song is that) which is a butchery of the original song. BUT a friend of mine turned out to have it and I finally listened to the legendary song again!

And speaking of Delar Mehendi:

Hahahahha

I am soo old

I just got back from one of my classmate's 21st party and... agh I feel so old. Turning 24 soon while most of my classmates are turning 21 (except the ones who failed or are international who are 22) makes me feel horrible.

I have always been acting more mature compared to my classmates even when they were my age (i.e. in high school), I would call them "son" and "uncle Ali can help you", one of my nicknames was uncle Ali even.

But but... I don't like it....this is not the way I wanted it to be. I'll be graduating while hitting on 25, by the time I establish a career how old will I be? What about postgrad study? Traveling the world? And family? What about my successors!! aaaghhhh
On top of it all, I never wanted to stick around for too long ....

The Story of Frodo

I'll tell you today about a classmate of mine, I call him "Frodo" among my friends due to his resmblance to the character in Lord of the Rings. I am not a fan of LOTR but this guy just looks really like him, plus he got a LOTR pencil case.

Anyway, he's a very nice guy and all but in our 1st Pro year he kinda pissed me off which made me establish his nickname among my group and able to designate him as a "knob" here is what happened:
After the marks for the 1st test in Thermo came out, the lecturer was saying that 8 people got full marks so Frodo tapped me in the shoulder (I am not really good friends with him so we don't talk outside class stuff) and he's like "Ali did you get full marks?",
Me (quite pissed off) : ........no
Him (as cheerful as ever): Oh ok, because me, Micheal, bla bla (6 other people) got full marks and I was wondering who was the 8th
Me: *$@($.. its Ahmed

You have to understand the situation, I'm usually in a bad mood and I was worse that day and on top of that he had the audacity to do that without even apologizing or anything agh.. he was sounding very cocking when saying his last sentence.

So anyway, from then onwards he was nicknamed Frodo ...

Come today and I was talking to my friends and one of them is like "Ali, so do you call Frodo Frodo now?" I was like "wtf?" and he goes on telling me how last night when we were working in the lab on our project (he's in our group) I was calling him Frodo and he would respond to it.
