Sheesh, I have been hooked on to the Olympics. I did not watch the opening ceremony because I have no TV in my room. But a few days ago I disovered the awesome streaming by
TVNZ.
So what have I been watching? Pretty much what is on at the time am on the computer. After watching the Judo and Greco-Roman wrestling matches I think the governing bodies of those sports should abolished and replaced. Way to make those amazing arts a boring, dull sporting contest. The athletes keep defending and only attack if they're behind and there is 20 seconds left. That is not cool, also the pointing system sucks! And no, am not saying this because am bitter
Iran's best chance of winning gold failed :( :( :(
I think they should just make the matches 10 minutes long and see who throws the other around more.
To think of it, watching Taekwondo fights in previous Olympics, it is not much different. Those dumb rules are destroying the game. Also you sometimes get people winning by a single point, even if they were not dominant at all! Same here, 10 minutes matches and whoever lands a pit-chagi (that's korean for back kick if I still recall) on the face wins :D
Yes I know am talking rubbish, I actually know nothing about the rules of those games hahaha. I also watched the men's gymnastics competition, and it still amazes me what the human body could do. Its definitely the most impressive sport in the Olympics for me in terms of ability. But then again I couldn't really tell a difference between a 13 point and a 16.6 point performance, which apparently is huge according to the commentators!
Hmm am definitely looking forward to the rowing finals, one of my classmates is big into rowing and used to row with Nathan Cohen in the NZ double sculls team, so it should be fun seeing how it goes.
